Very Peri. If you don’t recognize that name, you’re probably more familiar with it than you realize. It’s Pantone’s Color of the Year, an intense purple shade inspired by the metaverse and creativity, and it’s taken the world of horology by storm. It also comes at a time when watch aficionados (and people as a whole) are leaning into brighter and bolder styles and generally looking to have a little fun. Below are a few brand-new timepieces that do just that—some in obvious ways and others are more understated.

With its polished purple sapphire case and transparent purple rubber strap, Hublot’s 50-piece limited-edition Big Bang design is one of the most overt takes on the current purple trend. The watchmaker also has another on-trend limited edition (of 200) available: the Big Bang Unico Summer Purple, which has a purple titanium case and purple Velcro fabric strap at a more attainable price point (compared to the Purple Sapphire) of $22,000.

During Watches & Wonders earlier this year, Roger Dubuis introduced a pair of exquisite timepieces, one of which incorporates the purple trend in a subtle way by using it as an accent (alongside pink gold and other subdued colors) rather than the main focal point. Still, the color doesn’t get lost in this intricate design.

A familiar design in an unfamiliar color, TAG Heuer’s 500-piece limited-edition Monaco pairs a smoky purple dial with a brushed-steel case, making it almost feel like a neutral.
