Pandya previously served as GJEPC chair from 1996 to 2000
India’s Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) has elected Praveenshankar Pandya as chair and Russell Mehta as vice chair for the 2015–2017 period.
Pandya previously held the role of GJEPC chair from 1996 to 2000. He is the founding chairman and permanent director of Diamond India Ltd. and a director of the Shankar Group of Industries. Pandya replaces outgoing chair Vipul Shah.
Mehta is CEO of Rosy Blue India, the Indian branch of the Belgium-based diamond jewelry company that was started by Mehta’s father and uncle in 1960.
Regional chairpersons were also elected. They are:

—Anil Sankhwal, Northern region
—Pramod Kumar Agrawal, Jaipur region
—Mahendra Kumar Tayal, Southern region
