Polished Diamond Prices Continue to Rise

The price of certified polished diamonds continued to rise
in May,
according to Rapaport Corp.

Improving retail sales in emerging markets and the U.S.
shortages of excellent cut stones supported the price increase.

The RapNet Diamond Index for 1 ct. diamonds increased by 7.5
percent in May. Half-carat diamonds increased by 8.3 percent and 3 ct. stones
increased by 7.7 percent. The Composite RapNet Index increased by 7.7 percent
to 166.63.

Diamond prices continued to increase in May despite a slight
pullback in demand, according to the Rapaport Research Report “Where the Buck
Stops?,” which is available here.
