Many are just settling back in from their trips out to Las Vegas for Jewelry Week, so traveling again is either top of mind or the furthest thing from it.
Either way, the official start of summer is about a week away, and it could be helpful to retailers to know what their customers might be up to this year. Their destinations could give insight into the types of jewelry purchases they might make (city versus beach, campground versus resort grounds); and their choice of destination—if any at all—could shed some light on whether they’re spending more money on experiences or items this year, as the last several years have lacked the former.
Pinterest has teamed up with Campspot, an online marketplace for RV resorts, family campgrounds, cabins, and more, to offer a new report on its top trends for 2022 travel. You might be surprised by the opportunities the jewelry industry can take from this list, as odd as it sounds.
According to Pinterest, searches are up for people wanting to spend some time on (or at) the lake: Searches for “lake day outfit” and “boat day essentials” are some of the leading searches for summer travel. What completes an ensemble for the lake better than jewelry? If people are really looking to dress the part, there’s an idea for your Instagram—jewelry styling for lake day fashions.
Stargazing also appears to be top of mind for pinners, with search terms for “bed date under the stars” and “constellation map” up 38% and 37%, respectively. Who does celestial better than the jewelry industry? Aside from the galaxy, of course, there are countless star jewelry designs on the market, offering a commemorative piece of that very special evening under the night sky.
Travel planners are looking to go camping, which doesn’t sound like the ideal setting for jewelry, but they’re also looking to go glamping, which does sound like the perfect place for jewels. With searches for glamping up three times since last year, this might be the best time to demonstrate how to style jewelry for a luxurious stay in an upscale tent.
