Pinterest’s Festival Season Trends Might Be Fleeting—but Not for Jewelry

Coachella opens this weekend, and with it comes the annual cycle of festival dressing—a time when music fans of all ages (it’s not just a young person’s game) don everything from subtle bohemian touches to full-on costume. For self-expression at a music festival, there’s really no wrong way to dress.

Pinterest’s new festival trends report offers a glimpse into what we might expect to see this year—and based on the platform’s search data, it’s shaping up to be a particularly playful season. For the jewelry industry, though, the focus is less on the festival-specific clothing and more on the jewelry pieces that bring these looks together, and their staying power beyond the fests.

Take the theme “hot tropic.” Pinterest describes it as “bachata meets body glitter,” with a mix of tropical maximalism and showgirl-level shine. Think: fringe, feathers, and a general sense of exuberance. The jewelry direction here—high shine, layered, and unapologetically bold—points to statement pieces, particularly in gold tones, that play with movement and light. That feels like a natural extension of what’s already gaining traction among jewelry wearers.

The same applies to “swashbuckled,” an aesthetic built around belts, boots, tiered skirts, and a touch of theatricality. Standout search terms related to this trend include pirate earrings. In practice, that translates to horn and dagger drops, ornate metalwork, shells, and plenty of texture. Which is not far off from what’s already circulating in the market, reinforcing the ongoing popularity of maximalism and the seasonal appeal of inspiration from the sea. Stock a strong statement shell this season and you can’t go wrong.

My favorite aesthetic of the report, Peak Poptimism!, looks a lot like ’90s and early-aughts fun, positively bursting with glitter, holographic goodies, and butterflies.
