Pageants are normally about sparkling white diamond tiaras that crown ascending beauties. But Howard Stern’s recent Mistress Beauty Pageant was about a fallen angel who received a black diamond ring.
As much as Tiger Woods would like his extramarital affairs to go away, it’s simply too salacious to let go – especially for Stern. The shock jock has been organizing his Mistress Beauty Pageant for some time, trying his best to get the many named alleged mistresses of the famed golfer to participate in the beauty spectacle.
But in the end determining a winner was fairly straightforward with only three contestants, among them Jamie Jungers, Jaimee Grubbs and Loredana Jolie (an unnamed fourth contestant backed out of the competition last week).
Jungers was crowned the fairest of them all today. As the “winner” she received $75,000 and a diamond ring. That’s where Philadelphia’s infamous retail jeweler Steven Singer came in.
Being the property of Sirius XM, Stern’s advertisers are a tight knit group. Ashley Madison put up the $100,000 prize money (Jungers received $75,000 and the runners up received small stipends) and Steven Singer Jewelers, a fellow Stern advertiser on Sirius, was approached by the “discreet dating service” company to create a ring for the beauty contest winner.
Jungers’ ring was, “custom made just for the contest,” says Steven Singer Jewelers’ marketing director LeeAnn Jacobs. “It’s actually a very nice ring.”
The antique style ring was crafted in 14K white gold. The center stone is a 3-carat black diamond in a trendy halo setting surrounded by small white round brilliant diamonds (TCW .5 carats). Jacobs could not comment on the suggested retail price of the ring.
The event hasn’t brought in customers, but it sure created a huge amount of priceless media coverage for the Philly jeweler. “Everyone from Access Hollywood and TMZ covered it as did the New York Post and a ton of other media outlets,” says Jacobs. “It has been a real buzz ever since the contest was announced and up until the crowning of the winner today.”
Although the contest is over, the ring can live on. Singer isn’t looking at producing his now famed “black diamond mistress ring” in any numbers, but: “We’re happy to create rings similar to the one pictured [in news reports] for a customer upon request,” says Jacobs.
