Phillips Appoints TK Mak to Watch Advisory Board

Auction house Phillips in Association with Bacs & Russo has appointed TK Mak (pictured) to its watch advisory board.

Mak is one of Asia’s top collectors of vintage watches, contemporary art, design objects, historic racing cars, and memorabilia. In 1998, he started a publishing company and built Milk magazine into one of Asia’s best-known luxury titles. He then founded the Blackbird Automotive Group, which in 2017 was appointed the exclusive dealer for Ferrari in Hong Kong.

In 2018, he launched Blackbird Watch Manual, a horology publication.

“We look forward to TK bringing his unique knowledge and energy to our advisory board and feel that TK is ideally positioned to share with us his understanding of the market as we see a shift toward a new generation of collectors entering at this very moment our domain,” said Aurel Bacs, Phillips senior consultant, and Thomas Perazzi, head of watches for Asia, in a statement.

The Phillips watch department advisory board is composed of renowned watch experts and scholars and advises the auction house on collectible watches.

Members of the advisory board include Jean-Claude Biver, former head of LVMH’s watch department; Helmut Crott, founder of vintagewatchexpert.com; and vintage watch collector David Lou.
