Senior editor Jennifer Heebner wrote on jckonline.com last week that big pendants were back in a big way at the Centurion show in Tucson. And indeed this season, sizable pendant necklaces, along with more modestly sized versions, are all making a strong showing on the pages of American magazines.

The February 2011 issue of Harper’s Bazaar suggests that readers “pick up a pendant” adding: “Drop a rich jeweled necklace into your wardrobe essentials for an easy upgrade.” The necklaces pictured are from Oscar de la Renta and Mawi.

Heart-shaped pendants are popular for Valentine’s Day, of course. Oprah Winfrey’s O List features an enormous heart-shaped pendant necklace from Lanvin in the February 2011 issue of O, the Oprah Magazine.

Actress Molly Sims appears on the cover of the February 2011 issue of More magazine wearing a heart-shaped crystal-studded pendant necklace from her line Grayce by Molly Sims with a dress from J. Mendel.

Tiffany & Co. is currently running a number of ads featuring heart-shaped pendants with lock and key.

The First Lady of the State of New York, Diana Taylor, was photographed for the February 2011 issue of Harper’s Bazaar wearing a huge pendant necklace from David Webb and cuff from Mish New York with a sleek sheath dress from Calvin Klein Collection.

A multi-page ad from fashion house Blumarine in the February 2011 issue of Vogue features big pendant necklaces along with coordinating bracelets and earrings.

An ad for this extraordinary pendant necklace from the Coomi Antiquity Collection appears in the February 2011 issue of Town & Country.

Actress Julianna Margulies wears a Salvatore Ferragamo pendant necklace throughout a fashion spread in the January 2011 issue of Harper’s Bazaar. Her earrings are from Cartier, her blouse is from Salvatore Ferragamo, and camisole is from Patricia Fieldwalker.

Japanese screen star Rinko Kikuchi models layered pendant necklaces in this photo from the February 2011 issue of Marie Claire. The ring necklace is from Giles & Brother; the longer vial and pendant necklaces are from Jan Kao. Kikuchi also wears a bracelet from House of Waris and rings from Hoorsenbuhs, Tous, and Made Her Think. Her dress is from Fendi, jacket is from Adrienne Landau, and pants are from Frank Tell.

Amy Adams wears a Jennifer Meyer pendant necklace with a Gucci dress on the cover of the January 2011 issue of Marie Claire. The pendant is in flattering proportion to the features of her face.

A selection of more modestly sized pendants also appears in the December 2010 issue of Glamour. The necklaces pictured are from Arman for Fragments, Doyle & Doyle, Carolee, Sequin, Caleo Fine Jewelry, Loft, Phillips Frankel for Fragments, Marco Bicego, and Ann Taylor.

Actress Lake Bell appears in the February 2011 issue of Elle wearing head-to-toe Ralph Lauren. The pendant necklace is a locket from Ralph Lauren Vintage; the bracelet is from Ralph Lauren Collection.

Not only lockets are making a comeback. Here’s a photo of singer Taylor Swift wearing what appears to be a pocket watch suspended from a chain in the November 1, 2010 issue of People magazine.

Finally, actress Minka Kelly is shown in the new March 2011 issue of Glamour wearing a pendant necklace from James Colarusso. She also is pictured wearing an Omega watch, a bracelet from Carolina Bucci, and a ring from Scosha with her sweater from Michael Kors.
