The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has issued U.S. Patent No. 8,181,482 for the FireMark princess cut diamond, according to patent holder Hasenfeld Stein.
Hertz Hasenfeld, vice president of the New York-based DTC sightolder, said the patent protects the cut’s unique properties, which give the Princess the brilliance and light return of a round diamond.
“After years of trial and error, we determined that the combination of a higher crown, smaller table, and shallower depth dramatically impacts the diamond’s light performance,” Hasenfeld said in a statement.
The FireMark’s crown averages between 9.5 percent and 13.5 percent; the table is a maximum 68 percent (averaging 65 percent), and the depth is a maximum 70.9 percent (averaging 68 percent).
