Pamela Huizenga’s Silver Linings Collection of Cloud-Shape Chalcedony Jewelry

Pamela Huizenga, of the eponymous design firm, spied these chalcedony clouds last year at Tucson Gem Week and bought a bunch from a German vendor. This week, she received samples back of the designs she intends to move forward with, small and large clouds thus far with diamond accents. (Eventually, she’ll have three different retail price points to offer: $4,000, $8,000, and $10,000.)

“At first I thought I would make mother-daughter pieces because of the teeny clouds and the bigger ones, with the bigger one having diamond frames,” recollects Huizenga. “But the more I looked at them, the more I thought they all needed diamond frames!”

Original pieces debuted on Instagram on Tuesday, haven’t yet been seen in person by any retailers, and either have a frame of diamonds and retail for $12,000 or diamond-studded straps for $5,000. Future clouds will be cut in turquoise, lapis, and black jade. The collection is dubbed Silver Linings, with a tagline stating “All your silver linings should be diamonds,” adds Huizenga.
