Morris Adwar, the founder of ALA Casting, Alarama Jewelry, and Overnight Mountings, died Feb. 15 in Lawrence, New York. He was 96.
Born in 1921, Adwar was a World War II veteran who flew over 60 combat missions over the Pacific as a tail gunner and bombardier on a B-17 Flying Fortress.
Adwar was active in the industry, a president of the NY Caster’s Association, and member of the New York 24 Karat Club. As a philanthropist, he supported the Or Chadash girls school in Israel.
He is survived by his Clara, his wife of 73 years, as well as four children, 11 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. Son Jeff Adwar, as well as his grandsons Matthew Roth, Mitchell Adwar, and David Adwar, all went into the family business and currently own and operate Overnight Mountings.
