OroArezzo bars Asian visitors

The Technical Committee of the OroArezzo jewelry and silverware trade fair has told visitors from China, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Vietnam to stay away this year due to the recent outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS)in Asia.

The show is scheduled to be held April 12-15. Trade fair officials made the announcement on its Web site. Part of the message states, “Preventive control measures will be adopted at the entrance to the fair, in accordance with the Local Health Authorities.”

The Web site message encourages exhibitors with clients from these countries to contact those clients and encourage them not attend the show. Instead, pre-registered attendees from those countries will be encouraged to “participate as guests of the delegations” for the 2004 trade fair.

Last year, OroArezzo attracted 7,000 visitors with a quarter of them coming from abroad, according to its Web site.
