Organizers: LUXURY Privé 2013 Ends on “Vibrant” Note

JCK Events’ third annual LUXURY Privé event, held at the Pierre Hotel in New York City, came to a close on July 31, with show organizers hailing the mood as “vibrant.”

“Buying was at a record high,” said a show statement. “In spite of all that took place, however, the confines of Privé remained a relaxed and intimate atmosphere to conduct business amidst the chaos of New York Jewelry week.”

LUXURY Privé New York began with a Great Gatsby-themed cocktail party at the Pierre on July 29. Monday’s show kicked off with the “Meet the Retailer/Meet the Designer” matchmaking event and seminar facilitated by The Edge Retail Academy’s Becka Johnson Kibby.

The show also premiered a “Designer Balcony,” featuring collections from newcomers Lisa Black, Ed Levin, and Meredith Marks. Stephanie Kantis’ collection and BG Art Jewelry’s unique stackable bands also drew attention, the organizers said.

In addition, the show’s press events brought brands face to face with key media contacts working on holiday jewelry stories. A July 30 event drew 10 bloggers, including iDazzle, Ms. Fabulous, and Diamonds in the Library, and 30 editors from publications ranging from Vogue to Martha Stewart Weddings.

Among the retailers in attendance: Underwood’s, Jacksonville, Fla.; Lux Bond & Green, West Hartford, Conn.; Lee Michaels Jewelers, Baton Rouge, La.; R.F. Moeller Jewelers, Minneapolis; Mednikow Jewelers, Memphis; Long’s Jewelers, Boston; Cornell Jewelers, Rochester, N.Y.; and Gleim the Jeweler, San Francisco.

“The show has a stress-free vibe, making it easy to find brands you might ordinarily miss at the larger shows,” said Karen Goracke and Amy Dudzik from Borsheims in Omaha, Neb., in a statement. “We missed Ed Levin at the JCK show but were happy to have found him at Privé. We also fell in love with Stephanie Kantis’ collection of fine designer, yet reasonably-priced, fashion jewelry. The trip was definitely worth our while and we’re already looking forward to next year.”

“We had a great show which should lead to an exciting end of this year,” said Jack O’Neil of Spark Creations, also in a statement. “Retailers had confidence in the economy and are buying more color as a result.”

The next Privé event—LUXURY Privé Panama—will take place from Aug. 26-28 in Panama City.
