NY Jeweler Charged with Gold Buying  Violations

Daniel Baruch, president of Gold Buyers, was charged with 46 counts of class A misdemeanors, for failure to keep a written record of transactions, according to the the Rockland County Office of Consumer Protection/Department of Weights and Measures.

According to the press release, Gold Buyers was also charged with five violations of RC Law for buying precious metals from individuals less than 18 years old. These charges stem from transactions dated between January 15-May 1, 2009.  More charges may be forth coming.  Baruch is due in the Town of Clarkstown Justice Court on April 7th.

A public hearing is also being scheduled for the consideration of suspending or revoking the license currently issued to Gold Buyers. The law requires that a public hearing be held before an independent hearing officer in such matters.
