New York City-based grading lab Gemological Science International (GSI) has promoted lab veteran Nootan Thawai (pictured) to director of production and services.

In her new role, Thawai will be responsible for all production and services related to export activities. She will continue to supervise and manage production and service teams in GSI’s India, Hong Kong, Dubai, and Israeli operations.

Thawai joined GSI in 2011 and has held several positions within the organization.

Debbie Azar, GSI’s cofounder and president, noted in a statement that GSI will continue to expand its services globally.

She added: “The majority of GSI’s leadership are women, embodying GSI’s commitment to inclusive executive culture. We support women across all segments of the business, further strengthening our commitment to empowering women across our value chain.”
