New Turkish gold show debuts in Sept.

Gold Istanbul, a new trade fair for gold and silver jewelry, watches, and equipment, will debut Sept. 13 through 17 in Istanbul, Turkey.

The fair will have 300 exhibitors this year, with plans to expand to 500 next year, trade fair officials said in a statement. The show is government-sponsored, in conjunction with the Istanbul Chamber of Jewelry, an association of 10,000 members comprising almost all the jewelers in Istanbul.

Turkey is the world’s second-largest exporter of gold jewelry, with a yearly export of approximately 200 metric tons. Only Italy exports more. The Turkish jewelry industry employs about 250,000 workers in 3,500 companies, and boasts about 35,000 retailers. The show is organized and managed by Tuyap, a show management and promotion agency managing approximately 60 fairs a year. It will be held at the Tuyap Fair, Convention, and Congress Center in Istanbul. Tuyap is offering a special two-for-one hotel package for attendees.
