New Ownership Group Acquires C.W. Sellors Out of Administration

A newly created ownership group made up of luxury watch and jewelry professionals has acquired C.W. Sellors, moving the British retailer out of administration.

C.W. Sellors, which was founded in 1979 and owns the Jura Watches and W. Hamond brands, had been in administration since January.

Its new owners include Stuart Hennell, cofounder of Watchfinder, and Antony Lindsay, former CEO of Fabergé, along with Rebecca Sellors, a member of the jeweler’s founding family, and Alan Lloyd, who has been Sellors’ finance director.

“C.W. Sellors is a well-established British jewelry and watch business with strong foundations and a loyal customer base. Our focus now is on developing the business further while preserving the craftsmanship, expertise, and customer relationships that have defined the brand for almost half a century,” said Lindsay, chief executive officer of the ownership group, said in a statement.

Hennell, the group’s non-executive chairman, said, “What attracted me here is the combination of an established retail business and a digital platform with real underlying strength. With the right execution, there is clear potential to build something very compelling.”

The team is focused on reinforcing C.W. Sellors’ foundation as a business and revitalizing its in-store and online shopping experiences, according to a statement. All of the retail locations and workshops will remain open during the transition, the statement added.

Lindsay has three decades of experience in the international luxury jewelry and watch industry. He joined Fabergé in 2010 and served as CEO from 2023 until earlier this year. Previously, he’d worked at Gemfields and Graff Diamonds.

Hennell helped build Watchfinder into one of the world’s leading online platforms for pre-owned watch retailers. It was acquired by Richemont in 2018.

Rebecca Sellors serves as managing director of the new owners group, while Lloyd is staying in his role of finance director.
