As if JCK Las Vegas at Mandalay Bay and Couture at the Wynn hotel didn’t provide enough jewelry for enthusiasts to drool over this week, there was yet another jewelry show taking place on the strip that gave fans of vintage finds a thrill: the Las Vegas Antique Jewelry & Watch Show held at the Paris hotel May 30–June 2.
Many attendees of both JCK and Couture concede that a visit to this fair is a guilty pleasure. Who doesn’t love the treasure hunt of rooting through bins of estate goods to find a well-loved but forgotten heirloom? But the unavoidable hubbub of the bigger and more publicized venues often overshadows the offerings at the antique show.
I didn’t make it over to this show, but exhibitor Platinum 1911 offers us a look at some of the special pieces that were available.
Art Deco clip circa 1930 in platinum with cornflower blue French-cut sapphires, old European-cut diamonds, and a 1.10 ct. t.w. old European-cut diamond, estimated $30,000 retail; Cartier at Platinum 1911
