Jim Gowans has been appointed managing director of Debswana,
the joint venture between De Beers and the government of Botswana, effective
January 2011.
Since February 2010, Gowans has been chief operating and
technical officer of the De Beers Group. Prior to that, he was CEO of De Beers
Canada for four years.
Gowans’ contract will run for three years.
