The Natural Colored Diamond Association hosted its first annual event at JCK Las Vegas that included displays of natural color diamonds, a panel discussion, and chances for attendees to be tested by a “Gem Genius” or “Color Wiz” (armed with ipods and gift certificates). Retailers and manufactures were on-hand to share their expertise.
“Sales of natural color diamond jewelry were made at the actual event! The informative presentations were deliberately kept short to allow retailers plenty of time to experience and view the one of a kind natural color diamonds,” said Robert May, Natural Color Diamond Association executive director.
In addition, NCDIA officials said several retailers and manufactures also reported booth-sales immediately following the event.
Speakers for the event discussed the benefits of natural color diamonds.
Alfredo Molina, chief executive officer of Black, Starr & Frost and The Molina Group, encouraged retailers to realize the potential of the product category and good retail: “Natural Color Diamonds is a product category that allows retailers to once again enjoy profitable diamond sales … if we realize good retail is about exciting products and added-value.”
Larry West, Natural Color Diamonds president, encouraged retailers to learn more about the grading and value of color stones by asking questions and deriving knowledge from the NCDIA and its wholesale members.
