Muse Showroom Opens a Holiday Pop-Up Shop for Its Brands

With COVID-19 infections spiking in many areas of the country, it may not seem like the obvious moment to debut a physical pop-up shop. But Jennifer Shanker, founder of well-known New York City jewelry showroom Muse, asserts, “I believe that now more than ever, people want to look at beautiful things, to feel a sense of community, and to perhaps enjoy a little socially distanced, mask-wearing shopping.”

Answering this call, Shanker has debuted a holiday pop-up shop in Greenwich Village to bring Muse’s coterie of independent fine jewelry brands to downtown New York City.

The Muse Pop-Up at 605 Hudson St., which will be open through the end of December, is an intimate shop that spotlights pieces from Nikos Koulis, Silvia Furmanovich, Michael Fantaci, Holly Dyment, Anna Maccieri Rossi, Bea Bongiasca, Buddha Mama, Castro NYC, Christina Alexiou, Elena Votsi, Elie Top, Futura, Guita M, Jenna Blake, Joanna Dahdah, KWIT, Lorraine West, Luis Morais, Lito, Marlo Laz, Ondyn Prasi, Nancy Newberg, Storrow Jewelry, Sylva & Cie, Tara Hirshberg, Ten Thousand Things, and Wilfredo Rosado.

Jewelry lovers can also shop the pop-up digitally on a simple e-commerce site, musexmuse.com.

Shanker notes that fine jewelry’s solid sales partially inspired the pop-up, adding that interest in jewelry right now “makes sense because while clients aren’t socializing and traveling the way they used to, they are still celebrating milestone anniversaries, the birth of children, and special birthdays. Trends in [apparel] come and go, but fine jewelry is timeless and will always have lasting value.”

And Nikos Koulis says the pop-up “pushes the boundaries, evokes energy, and generates beauty.” The designer hopes the ephemeral shop will inspire New Yorkers with its “meaningful and soulful” ways of presenting and retailing jewelry.

Muse Pop-Up, 605 Hudson St., New York, NY; open 12 p.m.–7 p.m. Tuesday–Saturday and 12 p.m.–6 p.m. Sunday, by appointment Monday
