Multi-Hued Gemstone Mixes

From high-end jewels to the most budget-conscious costume designs, gemstones, real or faux, in a mix of colors are providing eye-catching fashion accents. Since bold prints and patterns and color-blocking in bright mixes of colors have trained our eyes to become used to wild combinations of color, it only makes sense that jewelry would follow.

Bright sapphire and amethyst earrings from M.C.L. by Matthew Campbell Laurenza, and a pair of embellished bracelets from Lanvin are featured as a report on a “Bohemian Rhapsody” trend reported in the November 2012 issue of Elle: “Eclectic, straight-from-the-bazaar pieces get luxed up with sharp silhouettes and dazzling stones.”  The model wears an ensemble from Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci along with jade bead bracelets with diamonds from Sydney Evan and a carved horn-shape bracelet from A Peace Treaty. The leather waist-tie belt is from Linea Pelle Collection.

In its September 2012 issue, Elle reports: “From paste jewels to trompe l’oeil prints, the new gems are all about shocking hues and oversize shapes.” Featured are a crystal and brass statement necklace and a multi-station ring from Shourouk; ruby, topaz and emerald drop earrings from Oscar de la Renta; and a  crystal and rose gold-plated bracelet from Mawi. 

The November 2012 issue of Lucky identifies the look of multi-hued jewelry as part of the trend toward ‘80s opulence: “The era’s jeweled, gilded, more-is-more ethos is having a moment.” Pictured are a gold-plated pendant necklace from R.J. The November 2012 issue of Lucky highlights an elaborate pair of multi-hued earrings from Alexis Bittar and a bright fruit salad stretch bracelet from Kenneth Jay Lane. The dress is by Joseph.

Singer Gwen Stefani models a jumpsuit from Diane von Furstenberg accompanied by a multi-hued bracelet from Tiffany & Co,. and a diamond necklace from Harry Winston in the September 2012 issue of Harper’s Bazaar.

  

The September 2012 issue of Elle accents an embroidered Valentino dress with emerald bead, ruby and diamond earrings and a diamond, black spinel, tourmaline and emerald bead necklace from Van Cleef & Arpels. The crystal-embellished bag and pumps are from Valentino Garavani.

The September 2012 issue of Marie Claire salutes the Dear Dior collection of 20 pieces provided by Victoire de Castellane for the design house. Pictured above are two of the pieces from Dior Fine Jewelry.

A current ad for the My Dior collection of Dior Joaillerie highlights a gold bracelet studded with diamonds and precious stones and a coordinating diamond and gold ring.

The design house Le Vian is known for its extraordinary mixes of colors, including the “Chocolate Quartz” pendant and ring in the ad pictured above.

What to buy in November 2012 according to Harper’s Bazaar:  the bib necklace: “Museum-worthy metal breastplates with colorful stones are just the thing to offset a simple (or wild-style) blouse.
