More Jewels That Celebrate the Year of the Snake

The editors of JCK have provided examples of beautiful ophidian-inspired jewelry in recent photo spreads. Here are jewels chosen by the consumer fashion press to celebrate the Year of the Snake.

The celebration kicked off with notice of the latest incarnation of Serpenti watch by Bulgari in 18k white gold studded with more than 500 diamonds and emeralds, as profiled in the August 2012 issue of Harper’s Bazaar. The face of the watch is concealed inside the serpent’s head.

Elle magazine took note of Bulgari’s Serpenti designs with this article in the February 2013 issue, which pictures a rose gold and diamond bracelet, along with a yellow gold belt necklace with pear-shaped diamonds and a gold bracelet watch with emeralds and diamonds, the latter two from the Historical Archive Collection.

“What we love in March,” according to the editors of Harper’s Bazaar, includes a figurative snake necklace from Roberto Coin and a cuff from Boucheron.

A John Hardy ring welcomes readers to the March 2013 issue of Harper’s Bazaar.

More must-have snake designs from the March 2013 issue of Harper’s Bazaar consist of an Anita Ko ring, Bulgari watch, Ileana Makri ring, and Repossi ring, along with Tom Ford wedge shoes and an Emilio Pucci clutch.

The March 2013 issue of Town & Country accessorizes a look with a statement cuff bracelet of snake design by Stephen Dweck. The model wears an Hermes shirt, Rochas headband, Will Leather Goods belt, and Paula Rubenstein blanket draped over her shoulder.

Testing the trend of pajamas for day (a trend coming around again, about which I blogged in April 2012), television host Louise Roe wears a mustard-color faux-python bracelet from her Louise Rose for StylistPick collection, chosen for its texture, with a Pia Pauro jacket, silk pajama-style shirt and pants by 10 Crosby Derek Lam, and Jimmy Choos in the April 2013 issue of Allure.

The February 2013 issue of Allure celebrates the Year of the Snake with a focus on snakeskin apparel and accessories, including a gold plate and python cuff bracelet from Kara by Kara Ross.

Another snakeskin-adorned cuff from Kara Ross appears in a fashion spread in the March 2013 issue of Harper’s Bazaar

The March 2013 issue of Glamour also focuses on snakeskin in the form of prints, picturing a necklace from Shop Design Spark.

A tie-dyed gown from Versace is accessorized with a snake armlet from Neil Lane Jewelry and rings from David Webb in the March 2013 issue of Glamour. The booties are also from Versace.

The March 2013 issue of Real Simple accessorizes mixed festive prints with a snake bracelet from Alexis Bittar. The model wears a Rebecca Taylor top and Rebecca Minkoff palazzo pants.

Taking a different approach to snake motifs, the March 2013 issue of Marie Claire finds a Perlota multi-coil snake ring to be an appropriate accent to a dark stranger country strong look. Also pictured are H. Stern earrings, a scorpion pendant necklace from Elsa Peretti for Tiffany & Co., and a watch from Dior Timepieces.

The April 2013 issue of InStyle notes “Snaky diamond-studded serpents that slithered their way onto fingers, lobes, and wrists” on the Grammy Awards red carpet. Pictured are Alicia Keys in Ofira earrings, Florence Welch in Sorellina rings, and Rihanna in a 100 ct. Neil Lane bracelet.

The April 2013 issue of Glamour notes the trend toward “Snakes on everything: They’ve slithered into celeb closets worldwide.” Pictured are Rihanna in a Swarovski crystal-adorned snake by Michael Schmidt; Rita Ora in a necklace by Anna Dello Russo for H&M; Nicole Richie in a pair of stacked bangles from House of Harlow 1960; and Izabel Goulart with an embellished snake on the Victoria’s Secret runway. Glamour’s pick is a snake design arm cuff from Sarah Aghili.

“Precious stones and metals make for devilishly divine companions,” notes the April 2013 issue of Marie Claire. Pictured are a necklace from Roberto Coin for Ahee Jewelers and a ring from Elise Dray at Alchemist. The wristwatch pictured is the Boa Bang watch from Hublot, which has a snakeskin-patterned face embellished with gems.
