MJSA to host Education Foundation golf tournament

Manufacturing Jewelers and Suppliers of America, Providence, R.I., will host a charity golf tournament on Aug. 13 to benefit the MJSA Education Foundation. The event will be held at Kirkbrae Country Club in Lincoln, R.I. A shotgun start at 1 p.m. will begin the 18-hole, “best ball” tournament. A dinner reception and prize presentation follows.

Proceeds will benefit the MJSA Education Foundation, a non-profit organization providing direction and funding for the development of jewelry industry educational programs.

“This event in part allows the Foundation to offer valuable scholarships as well as to provide much-needed information to the industry,” says Mary Walek, MJSA director of education. In the past year, the Foundation took a lead role in funding MJSA’s safety initiatives in Los Angeles. The ongoing educational efforts include safety manuals, seminars, and site visits.

The tournament costs $175 per person, which includes lunch, greens fees, golf carts, locker room use, and dinner reception. Tickets are also available for the reception alone, and donations from non-players are accepted as well. In addition, sponsorship opportunities are available. (Sponsorship and a portion of your golf fee are tax deductible.) To register either as a team or an individual player, or to attend just the reception, call Megan McAleer at (800) 444-MJSA, ext. 3026, or register on the MJSA Web site.
