Mimi So’s dreamy description of her Wonderland Jewelry collection reminds of us of an Alice in Wonderland–style journey, complete with “the bee as protagonist, representing the buzz of life,” says So. “The bee is surrounded by a close community and produces the sweetest elixir—honey. But if you disturb her, you’ll be stung!”
Warnings aside, So’s new 35-SKU collection in 18k gold is the result of the New York City–based artist’s series of personal odysseys. The inspiration for looks—which include bees, birds, twigs, flowers, and ladybugs—is creatures of the universe.
“Wonderland…has led me to a colorful place in life, a vibrant enchanted forest where I am free to let go and drift into my imagination,” observes So. “It’s a creative enclave where I can color beyond the lines and think outside of the box.”
Stones used include red and pink spinels, tsavorite, opals, and more. The starting retail price is $950, and the buy-in for retailers is $35,000. Jewels ship this September.
