Michigan Police Make Arrests in Kidnapping Plot

A Michigan jeweler and his family were targeted in a jewelry heist and kidnapping plot, according to media reports.

A multijurisdictional task force foiled the plot and made five arrests on Dec. 18—two days before they allegedly planned to kidnap and rob the owner and manager of the Darakjian Jewelers, located in the Detroit suburb of Southland, the Detroit News and other media outlets report.

Pictured from left are: Carlos Alberto Soler Norona, 44, of Royal Oak; Julio Cesar Repilado Licorish, 37, of Lansing; Lester Jennings Bush, 20, of Hazel Park; Henry Stankivich Bush, 32, of Port Huron; and Huley Oscar Kennedy, 31, of Detroit, were arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery and conspiracy to commit unlawful imprisonment, according to media reports.

All five suspects are being held in the Oakland County Jail in lieu of bonds of between $500,000 and $1 million each and a Dec. 29 pre-exam conference before a Southfield District judge, the Detroit News reports.

The charges are felonies punishable by up to life in prison.
