Michelle Fantaci’s New Chess Queen Jewelry Collection in Gold

Chess players will appreciate Michelle Fantaci’s latest 14k gold jewelry collection because it’s inspired by the world’s most beloved game of strategy. (Fantaci’s sales are handled by Muse.)

Debuted at Couture 2014, pieces in Chess Queen feature inspired interpretations of game pieces like the King, Queen, and Pawn cuffs and rings, all of which feature scalloped edges “that appear throughout the collection are inspired by the Queen’s crown,” says Fantaci. The pieces also nest neatly together or touch end to end for a sprawling statement across the arm. However, it’s the collection’s underlying girl power message with which many may be most intrigued.

“The Queen piece has the most power and flexibility, and is the King’s protector,” Fantaci explains. “So I wanted the pieces to demonstrate a toughness that is feminine and doesn’t have to announce itself, in the same way that the Queen doesn’t have to prove she is the most powerful player—she just is.”

Retail prices for pieces with a range of gemstones—from rubies to pink sapphires to moonstone and Russian demantoid—range from $800 to $6,000.
