Michael O’Connor Joins Plumb Club as Marketing Director

The Plumb Club has appointed Michael O’Connor (pictured) as its marketing director, where he will be responsible for the organization’s strategic marketing plan and initiatives.

O’Connor’s more than 35 years of experience in the industry spans all areas, from retail to manufacturing to design. He has served as director of corporate marketing for Frederick Goldman, senior vice president for Platinum Guild International USA, and chief marketing officer of Christopher Designs.

He has also been president of his own firm, Style & Substance, working with clients such as the Couture show, Rio Tinto, Platinum Guild International, Benchmark, Leo Schachter, HSN, and JTV. He has appeared as a jewelry expert on Today, ET, Extra, Access Hollywood, and QVC.

“We were thrilled to be able to bring on someone of Michael’s caliber and experience to head up our marketing,” said Michael Lerche, president of the Plumb Club, in a statement. “We believe that his knowledge of the industry and understanding of our vision and objectives, combined with his proven track record, will help us achieve our goals.”

O’Connor added in the same statement, “I’ve already had the great opportunity to work with the Plumb Club and many of its prestigious members. I’m excited to help the organization with their vision of shaping the future of the jewelry industry.

In September, the Plumb Club announced that it was requiring its members to join the Responsible Jewellery Council.
