Michael Hill International’s U.S. comps increased 3.5 percent over the last fiscal year (ended June 30), the Queensland, Australia–based jeweler announced.
It currently has nine stores in the United States.
The jeweler’s overall U.S. sales went up 13 percent to $11.2 million over the year, due to an increase in the number of American stores. In 2014, it opened stores in Minneapolis and Columbus, Ohio, and this year one opened in Elmhurst, N.Y.
The United States was one of the company’s better-performing markets. Comps in New Zealand grew 4.3 percent; in Canada, they grew 2.5 percent; while in Australia, they fell 2.5 percent. It has 288 stores in total.
The company’s overall revenue rose 3.4 percent to 495,580,713 AUD, or about $365 million; comps increased 0.7 percent.
