Mejuri’s Interconnected Targets Entry-Level and Middle-Market Customers

With its new 20-piece Interconnected collection, Mejuri is aiming squarely for the self-purchasing jewelry customer at entry level and pinnacle price points.

Mejuri debuted Interconnected on Monday in 14k gold with natural and lab-grown diamonds as well as sterling silver and vermeil with lab-grown sapphires. The Toronto-based brand also introduced natural black diamonds set in sterling silver as part of its tennis jewelry line.

Prices for the collection range from $88 for the Interconnected Lattice ear cuff to $998 for the Interconnected Loop pavé diamond ring in 14k gold with natural diamonds to $5,500 for the Interconnected Tennis bracelet in 14k gold with lab-grown diamonds.

“Our proposition has always been beautiful fine jewelry that many women can actually own, and we’re honest about what each material is. Sterling silver is sterling silver, vermeil is vermeil, solid 14 karat is solid 14 karat, and the value of a piece lives in its materials,” Mejuri senior jewelry design director Nicole Ghosn says.

“Offering Interconnected across tiers means there’s an entry point wherever she is in her journey with us, whether she’s buying her first diamond or adding to a collection she’s built over years,” she says. “We also took a deliberately different approach with the sterling silver and vermeil styles.

“We didn’t simply reproduce the gold pieces in another metal. Each material has its own designs, so in silver and vermeil you’ll find expressions like the repeating X motif and the adjustable lariat, all within one cohesive gestural language. The feeling and mood hold across the whole collection, and each material interprets them in its own way,” Ghosn says.

Interconnected started with a single design: Mejuri’s Pavé Diamond X Stud earring, which became a signature for the brand. Each piece within the collection is drawn in one continuous stroke connected at the bottom, making the jewelry feel light and fluid.

“We launched the earring quietly, without any marketing behind it, and it was quickly loved by so many customers that we knew there was more to it than one piece. That single connected line evolved into a full design language: pieces built around connection in all its forms,” Ghosn says.

The X evolved into the Interconnected collection because connection is at the heart of Mejuri as a jewelry brand, she adds.

“Mejuri has always looked for the moments where we can meet our customer in her life, and she decides which of those moments are worth marking. The bond she has with herself, with the people she loves, with the ones who shaped her, those are the relationships that stay with her longest,” Ghosn says.

The Mejuri Interconnected collection includes several earring options, including its Lattice hoops in gold vermeil and sterling silver ($158).

“This collection gives them a form she can wear on her skin every day, so what connects her to someone becomes something she carries on her body.”

In the pieces that use lab-grown diamonds, Mejuri chose the stone’s placement to accentuate the connection points and show that not every connection the wearer has is visible to the outside world. In most pieces, the lab-grown diamond is set where its two strokes cross. In others, the lab-grown diamond is set at the side of a ring or behind the earlobe, putting the connection point behind the piece.

Interconnected also uses a proprietary font Mejuri created for this collection. The font is designed to look like the hand’s natural movement as someone signs a letter or a note with an X or an XO to indicate a kiss or a hug, she says.
