Meghan Markle Wears Snowflake Earrings by Birks to Queen’s Lunch

Soon-to-be British royal Meghan Markle made the guest list for the Queen’s official Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace yesterday and arrived dressed (and jeweled) to impress.

The Suits actress wore a ladylike lace-top dress with an A-line skirt by British brand Self-Portrait (a favorite of Kate Middleton’s), accessorized with a pair of diamond jacket earrings depicting delicate snowflakes by Canadian brand Birks, the firm that also gave Markle her ear sparkle—in the form of 18k gold opal studs—for the engagement photos that conquered the world.

Markle was photographed sitting in a car stuck in the crush of royal traffic headed into Buckingham Palace, with Prince Harry of Wales at the wheel.

The actress, who lived in Toronto while filming her TV series Suits, has had an ongoing relationship with Birks. She’s worn several pieces from the brand recently, including a flex wrap ring called the Birks Rosée du Matin which she flashed while attending the Invictus games in Toronto earlier this year.

The 18k white gold and diamond round jacket earrings, which boast 1.39 cts. t.w. diamonds, “pay homage to the dazzling beauty of Canadian winters,” according to a description on the Birks website, and are priced at $5,995 CAD (around $4,700 USD).

The dazzling diamond earrings perfectly complemented Markle’s Self-Portrait dress—dubbed the Nightshade midi dress—which features a fitted, high-neck bodice covered in decorative floral lace. The dress is, to no one’s great surprise, currently sold out on the brand’s website and elsewhere.

We may never have to wonder what Markle is wearing again, thanks to an enterprising new website, Meghan’s Fashion, that’s detailed every shoe, shawl, and slip dress the future royal’s donned since November 2016.
