Jewelry to Wear to Watch the New ‘Mean Girls’ Musical Movie

In the teen-movie pantheon, 2004’s Mean Girls ranks as one of the best, with its quotable lines and memorable villain, Regina George. So fans have been eager for the release of the film adaptation of the Mean Girls musical that debuted on Broadway in 2018.

With the musical film hitting theaters Jan. 12, it feels right to celebrate the characters and colors that make Mean Girls so iconic. That means lots of pink, fetching designs, and plenty of sparkle to represent the high school queen bee world captured by comic genius Tina Fey (screenwriter for both the original and new movies).

There is no jewelry industry burn book, so go ahead and put on any of these pieces if you’re attending a screening of the new Mean Girls. But you can wear them anywhere, or if you just want to channel your inner Plastic or go like Glen Coco. And you can wear hoop earrings whenever you want, even if Regina claimed them as her thing.

Now that all of that is out of the way… Get in, we’re going shopping.

First Dibs pendant
Cady Heron had to open her heart to high school and all of its challenges, and she’d likely open her heart to this 18k yellow gold watermelon tourmaline pendant necklace ($14,200). (Photo courtesy of 1stDibs)
Pippa Small Tourmaline
Ethical jeweler Pippa Small stands for a love of humanity, something Regina George doesn’t seem to possess. We’d love to possess this 22k gold pink tourmaline Tibetan ring ($14,300), which is as lovely as it is substantial. (Photo courtesy of Pippa Small)
Emily Wheeler earrings
These Queen of Hearts earrings ($8,700) with pearls and pink opal by Emily P. Wheeler could make someone the most popular girl in high school, or at least keep her out of the burn book. (Photo courtesy of Emily P. Wheeler)
Yessayan bracelet
Rose gold is the perfect setting for the 33.49 carats of natural pink sapphires in this Yessayan link bracelet ($8,000) that Karen Smith might wear with her tailored and classic gym uniform. (Photo courtesy of Yessayan)
Renna earrings
Any high school girl, mean or not, will find comfort in Renna’s healing rose quartz Dew Drop earrings ($2,000), offering unconditional love for oneself. (Photo courtesy of Renna)
Gemma Azzurro ring
The Plastics would surely approve of this Gemma Azzurro ring ($94) featuring a lab-grown pink sapphire and lab-grown diamonds in a halo pattern. (Photo courtesy of Gemma Azzurro)
Ome bracelet
Omè’s Molly bracelet ($75) with a ceramic pink flower makes us think of what we thought high school would be like before we actually got there. (Photo courtesy of Omè)
Alex Kou earrings
Maybe you won’t be the star of a Hollywood movie or Broadway show, but you’ll grab attention wearing these Alex Kou pink sapphire star stud earrings ($5,000). (Photo courtesy of 1stDibs)

Top: Hulchi Belluni’s Bouli bracelets in yellow gold with diamonds and pink sapphires  ($3,360–$4,637 each) would look great on Gretchen Wieners, if only Regina would let her wear them. (Photo courtesy of Hulchi Belluni)
