Mayer Ziefer, 93, founder of Mayers Jewelry

Mayer Ziefer, founder of Mayers Jewelry, Hollywood Fla., passed away Jan. 13. He was 93.

Ziefer came to this country like many other immigrants, avoiding the holocaust, and arriving on U.S. Shores with literally $5 in his pocket.

Hard work and perseverence led to the founding of Mayer’s Jewelry in New York CIty in the Late 1940s. He moved to South Florida in the early 1970s where he also owned other Jewelry companies, including W.C. Edge and D.M.C. as well as U.S. Chain and Merano Watches.

Close friends included Moshe Schnitzer of the Israeli Diamond Exchange and other industry leaders.

Mayer leaves behind a legacy in the Jewelry industry including his son, Sam Ziefer, president of WC Edge, daughter Zina Sherman, founder of Zina Sterling Silver of Beverly Hills, Calif., and his grandson Andrew Goldstein primary jewelry designer for Zina Sterling Silver.
