Hair It Is: Maya Brenner’s Latest Jewelry Design Collaboration

Not three months into 2020 and we already have a really great Maya Brenner jewelry collaboration to report on. Her latest design partner, Alli Webb, may not be familiar to you by name, but if you live in a metro area you may know her business: Drybar, the stylish salon devoted to expert blowouts and hairstyling that many of us rely on for special events and occasions.

We know from Brenner’s most recent collaboration with Sarah Hendler that the Los Angeles–based designer prefers to pair up with friends—and that’s just how she and Webb got the ball rolling here.

Webb called Brenner to inquire if she could design a special pair of earrings that she’d never need to take off, and together they decided to expand on the idea.

Both women, successful entrepreneurs and busy mothers with hectic schedules, found themselves lamenting about how hard it is to create a perfectly layered earring look just to dissemble it at night (because who wants to sleep with earrings poking you or slipping out?). They knew that other women could relate to this dilemma and, thus, have focused on key styles that women can wear around the clock, including studs with a specially designed backing (based on a nose ring Brenner wore in college), huggies, and threaders.

Here’s a peek at some of the collaboration pieces, which land at Nordstrom stores and at nordstrom.com and mayabrenner.com on Sunday. The earrings are handmade in Los Angeles and sold as singles to allow for easy mixing and matching.
