Martin Katz Offers Hotel Guests Breakfast in Bed With a Side of Diamonds

Cooking up new jewelry designs is what Martin Katz does on a daily basis, so when he got the opportunity to curate a “diamond menu” with one of California’s most prestigious hotels, he says he couldn’t wait to start.

On Aug. 12, aka World Diamond Day, the Beverly Hills-based jeweler and Nobu Ryokan Malibu debuted their collaboration, creating a diamond-laden guest experience at the hotel. Guests staying in the premium beachfront suites can try everything from diamond-themed signature cocktails to a gourmet breakfast to a diamond facial.

“Curating the diamond menu was an inspiring process for me. I was trying to think like a chef and create a tempting and delicious diamond experience for their guests,” Katz says. “It is called a diamond menu because it is an exclusive curated selection of more than a dozen pieces including one-of-a-kind diamond jewels available for same-day delivery for a personalized try-on.”

For those who may not want to drive into the city from the beach to shop, Katz says he wanted to re-create the same luxury experience his clients enjoy in his Beverly Hills penthouse store in the iconic Fred Hayman building, which he opened this past spring.

In other words, Katz says, hotel guests can have breakfast in bed with a side of diamonds.

“What is more romantic than hearing the ocean waves and having diamonds appear on your pillow?” Katz says. “The diamond menu offers an enjoyable way to experience jewelry shopping with your significant someone in your life.”

Katz says Ryokan Malibu reached out to him to collaborate on a unique jewel-and-hospitality experience to celebrate National Diamond Day. The partnership will continue through the fall, evolving into holiday programming later in the season.

“Being introduced to the guests of Nobu Ryokan Malibu and sharing our diamonds and jewels with people that may not be familiar with our brand is always an exciting occurrence for us,” Katz says. “This personalized bespoke experience on their property is truly different from anything offered by the finest luxury resorts.”

Hotel clients also are invited afterward for a private sitting at his penthouse store to enjoy a personalized one-to-one appointment with Katz, who says is goal is always to be a “jeweler like no other. My hope is that our ongoing partnership will continue to evolve throughout the season with a series of curated events throughout the year for their guests.”
