Fine jewelry manufacturer Martin Flyer is sponsoring a student design competition in conjunction with the Fashion Institute of Technology.

Martin Flyer has selected five finalists in two categories who will compete for an opportunity to have their winning design manufactured by the New York based-company and be used as part of its FlyerFit collection of bridal jewelry. The finalists are:

First category – Eunhe Lee and Sukyo Jang
Second category – Candice Russelli, Yoon Joo Kim, and Mariko Fujii

The winner will be announced at an award ceremony in April at FIT.

The designs will be judged by a review panel of industry experts—including retailers, consumer and trade magazine editors, and Platinum Guild International representatives. The winning design will be featured in Martin Flyer marketing materials and displayed prominently at the 2008 Luxury and JCK shows in Las Vegas.

As part of the competition, the students will create an original design in platinum that fits one of the five classifications of bridal. Each design will be judged on three primary criteria: Manufacturing ability, originality, and sales potential.
