Target has hired Mark Tritton as executive vice president and chief merchandising officer.

He will oversee enterprise buying, product design and development, sourcing, visual merchandising strategy, and merchandising operations. He was previously executive vice president at Nordstrom and president of Nordstrom Product Group, where he oversaw over 50 private label brands. Tritton has also held leadership positions with Timberland and Nike.

“Over the past year, we’ve undergone an exhaustive search for a chief merchant, and I’m confident that Mark’s experience and passion make him the right fit for Target’s business and our team,” said chairman and CEO Brian Cornell in a statement. “He’s a bold, decisive leader, and he’ll play a critical role in guiding Target’s merchandising authority across all channels, ensuring we meet the ever-evolving wants and needs of our guests.”

Target also announced that Jason Goldberger has been named chief digital officer and president of Target.com. He has been with Target since 2013, and previously held leadership positions with Gilt Groupe, Hayneedle.com, and Amazon.
