I’ve always been jealous of those born in March, because they have the pleasure of claiming the aquamarine as their own. While I was receiving emeralds during birthdays and Christmases, I secretly wished I’d been born in a month represented by a blue gemstone (though if I could go back in time and tell my 5-year-old self how amazing emeralds are, I might have thought differently). Still, I admire the aqua so much for its calming, oceanic hue. I especially love the lighter shades of aqua, those that seem to have just the slightest touch of blue, and am impressed by the darker, more saturated stones that I swear could pass for blue topaz.
