Lucara Releases First Images of 336 Carat Diamond

Lucara Diamond Corp. has released the first images of the Type IIa 336 ct. diamond it uncovered in mid-August.

The diamond was unearthed at the Karowe mine in Botswana. Three other exceptional stones—184 ct., 94 ct., 86 ct., respectively—were recovered at the same time.

Since 2013, Lucara has recovered 216 diamonds that have sold for more than $250,000 each, including 12 that have sold for more than $5 million each.

“This resource has consistently produced significant value for the company and its shareholders,” Lucara president and CEO William Lamb said of the Karowe Mine in a statement, “and the ongoing recovery of high-value stones sets Lucara apart from most other diamond producers.”
