Gordon Gilchrist has been appointed non-executive chairman of Lonrho Mining.
Gilchrist served as managing director of Argyle Diamonds from 1993 to 2002 and worked as founding managing director of Rio Tinto Diamonds until 2005.
His appointment coincides with Lonrho’s kimberlite exploration program, which will occur over the next 12 to 18 months. During the program Manfred Marx, diamond expert, will drill test 61 kimberlite targets.
“It is an exciting time to join Lonrho Mining as the company begins evaluating the 61 kimberlite targets identified by Mr. Marx, who is a well-respected figure in the global diamond industry,” Gilchrist said in a statement.
