Live From Baselworld: Van Der Bauwede’s Ocean Dream Diamond Pendant

It was hard to miss Geneva-based Van Der Bauwede’s Ocean Dream pendant—weighing 101.80 grams of 18k white gold—in Hall 2.1 at Baselworld this week. The piece is clearly large (perhaps six inches in length) and impressive, and the design is inspired by the sea. According to the brand, the pendant “is embodied by splendid fish pendants featuring majestically flowing shapes.” I particularly like the use of black enamel to contrast the colorless stones, giving the illusion of the trough of a wave. Set with 18.06 cts. t.w. colorless diamonds, the jewel took six months to make and retails for 134,000 CHF ($145,000 U.S.). While Van Der Bauwede has 109 points of sale worldwide, it has only one in the United States, a franchise VDB store in Miami.
