The Baselworld Watch & Jewellery Fair opened today, and one of the most noticeable trends (already!) is snake motifs. With nearly 1,500 exhibitors—and a snake evident in some form or another in most booths—there are an endless number of interpretations, and certainly enough to post one daily.
The Eden collection from Utopia launched last year during jewelry week in Las Vegas, but the popularity of its serpents continues to grow. Snakes in the Italian-made line are subtler—“more discreet,” says Manuel Martin of the brand’s New York City-based office—than many seen in other lines, and nearly every style hugs a pearl. Also new for Eden: rose gold (it debuted in black and white gold). This pendant necklace is made in 18k gold with 13.82 cts. t.w. colorless and black diamonds and a 16.4 mm Tahitian pearl for $16,500 retail.
