One of two brothers convicted of killing two persons during the robbery of a Grand Haven, Mich., jewelry store has been given a mandatory life prison sentence, The Associated Press reports.
Dimitri Anderson was sentenced Monday in Ottawa County Circuit Court in Grand Haven, the AP reports. A jury found him guilty last month of two counts of first-degree murder and armed robbery for the July 2 murders of Robert Karell, 61, the owner of R.K. Jewelers, and Louis Paparella, 77, of Roosevelt Park, a customer at the store.
Anderson expressed sympathy for the victims’ families but denied having anything to do with the deaths, the AP reports.
His brother, Darick Anderson, was convicted this month on the same charges and is scheduled to be sentenced April 20, the AP reports.
