Leviev Diamonds Hires Giovanni Mattera-Vairo as MD

Share

Leviev Diamonds, the jewelry brand owned by the prominent diamond family, has appointed Giovanni Mattera-Vairo its new managing director.

Mattera-Vairo was previously CEO of Gismondi 1754 in the Americas. Before that, he was president of de Grisogono for North America, and sales and marketing director for Versace.

The new hire is part of Leviev Diamonds’ plan to raise its profile. Chagit Leviev, president and CEO of Leviev Group USA (and daughter of famed mogul Lev), said in a statement that the company is debuting a new brand campaign, opening a network of shop-in-shops, and seeking a greater presence in luxury markets.

Last year, Leviev opened a retail showroom in New York City, in the penthouse of 590 Fifth Ave., right near the Diamond District.

Greg Sofiev, CEO and creative director for Leviev Diamonds (and Chagit’s husband), said in the statement that Leviev’s “bespoke jewelry services have been a resounding success” and it “hopes to make custom design and direct sales a cornerstone of our business.”
