Laura Linney and I go way back.
Linney’s gown is a Michael Kors strapless number, which kind of straddles the line of classic/safe and the Ferragamo shoes and bag kind of do the same, but Linney carries it well, and honestly not every dress has to be a shocker folks. Linney in my mind has always, even in the parts that she takes, represented a kind of quiet elegance that is refreshing. Maybe it is just the maternal Bobby Fischer memories of her, who knows?
On to the Cathy Waterman cuff and pendant.
My view? Linney really needed to pick one or the other. No, I take that back, she should’ve lost the cuff. The cuff to me is a bit heavy, perhaps too wide, and when paired with the pendant which has a very sweet and light chain and sensitive detailing the cuff just seems a bit like a door knocker.
Definitely a tough call, but I think the cuff should’ve stayed at home.
