Lab-grown diamond manufacturer SCIO Diamond Technology Corporation announced that it has been issued its first Canadian patent, titled Turntable CVD Diamond Structures.
According to a company statement, the patent relates to single crystal diamond grown in layers. SCIO said that diamonds grown in this manner can be adapted for use in applications such as semiconductor devices and for other electronic uses, in ways that exceed those of natural diamond.
“This notable development is an important step to ensure we remain at the forefront of cultivated diamond technology,” said Joseph Lancia, president and CEO of SCIO, in a statement. “We are very pleased with accomplishing this milestone.”
