Former Kimberley Process chairman Boaz Hirsch has been named
an honorary member of the Israel Diamond Exchange, according to the Israel
Diamond Institute.
Hirsch, deputy director general for foreign trade in
Israel’s Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labor, had no prior industry
experience when he was appointed KP chairman.
“2010 was a complicated year for the diamond industry as a
whole, and we frequently feared that the Kimberley Process would break down,
but Boaz played an exemplary role in leading the process forward,” said Avi
Paz, president of the Israel Diamond Exchange and the World Federation of
Diamond Bourses.
