Signet Jewelers Ltd., the world’s largest specialty retail jeweler, announced Thursday that Lesley Knox will not offer herself for election as a director in June 2009, at the company’s annual general meeting. She will remain as a board director until that time.

“I thank Lesley for her valuable contribution to the group during a period when the Group has faced many challenges,” said Sir Malcolm Williamson, Signet Jewelers chairman.

Signet operates approximately 1,959 specialty retail jewelry stores including 1,401 stores in the U.S., where the Group trades as “Kay Jewelers,” “Jared The Galleria Of Jewelry,” and under a number of regional names; and 558 stores in the U.K., where the Group trades as “H.Samuel,” “Ernest Jones,” and “Leslie Davis.”
