Bronze-cast, gold-plated 3-D emoji pendants prove popular on Kickstarter
Fun, quirky jewelry designs featuring emoji have been popular for a few years: We’ve featured Jane Basch’s custom emoji pieces and and Carved in Gold’s Emojewels. Now designer Pow HiSo is using Kickstarter to offer emoji designs at a fashion price point.
The emoji pendants are designed in CAD and printed in wax with a 3-D printer. They are then cast in bronze using lost-wax casting and electroplated in gold. Each pendant comes in two sizes: small, which has a .5-inch circumference, and large, which has a .75-inch circumference.
The company is currently offering 14 designs. The small size retails at $40 and large retails at $50. It hopes to use the Kickstarter funds to produce rings, earrings, and other emoji-inspired products. It also hopes to build an online store and to scale manufacturing.
With three days left, the project has reached $7,516 of its $8,000 goal, evidence that the emoji trend is still going strong.
