Is it a coincidence that November’s birthstone happens to possess one of the seasonally appropriate colors? If you haven’t skipped right over Thanksgiving into the holidays, you’ll probably still be in the mood for golden yellow-oranges, reds, and browns: the color of autumn leaves and most often the trio associated with the late- autumn holiday. But citrine is on the upswing, I think, and not just for November. With its versatile appearance—bold when paired with primary hues such as blue and red, autumnal with browns and oranges, soft with pastel pinks and blues—the honeyed stone has a ton of potential. Though it seems that many of us are more often drawn to cooler hues—Paraiba, tourmaline, emerald—there comes a time for warmth. And if there was ever a time that required warming, well, the coming season would be it. And what’s the one extremity that was must always keep warm? Our ears, of course! These creations should do the trick, but they’ll have a hold on our hearts for much longer than just the winter.
